GAU is what's known as a "chapter," an independent part of a "local," which is itself an independent part of a larger union. Our local is UFF, and our larger union is FEA. The FEA is part of the AFT and the NEA, as well as the AFL-CIO. Learn more about each group below.

FSU's faculty chapter of UFF. We work closely with our faculty colleagues, to learn from their successes and solicit their support in our own efforts.

The United Faculty of Florida is the FEA local for higher education. It encompasses 12 state universities, 12 colleges, and 4 GAU chapters.

The Florida Education Association is the leading statewide education union. The majority of its locals represent K-12 teachers and education support professionals.

The National Education Association is the largest union for education professionals in the country. FEA is the Florida state affiliate for the NEA.

The American Federation of Teachers, like the NEA, is a national teacher's union. Because Florida is a "merger state," we are members of both.

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations is "the umbrella federation for U.S. unions, with 55 unions representing 12.5 million working men and women."

Student FEA

FSU's student chapter of the FEA, focused on engaging upcoming educators in the labor union process.
