Healthcare Coverage
When GAU first formed, GA subsidies were distributed through a lottery, and awarded to a mere 400 employees at random. The subsidy also came nowhere near sufficient coverage, considering the premiums. We have successfully bargained for a subsidy as a guaranteed benefit to any GA who purchases the student health insurance plan.
Health Insurance
For the 2026-2027 academic year, the University will pay a portion of the student health insurance premium for individual coverage of those employees on at least a 0.25 FTE appointment for the fall and spring semesters who are not enrolled in any other state or University health insurance program and who elect coverage under the Student Health Insurance Plan.
Payroll deduction is the method for employees to pay for their portion of the health insurance premium.

Dental and Vision Coverage
While we do not have vision and dental coverage through FSU, GAU members get significant discounts on both vision and dental insurance through our affiliation with the National Education Association!
